QAL 1 requires
that instruments
are shown to be
suitable for
purpose based
upon a set of
laboratory and
field procedures
that test the
performance of
the system
against
predefined
limits. These
procedures are
defined in an
additional
directive EN
15267-3.
Testing must be
carried out by
an approved
laboratory.
Certification is
by either MCERTs
in the UK or TUV
in Germany. Both
certification
schemes
comply with EN
15267-3 and
either
certificate is
acceptable in
all EU member
states.
A QAL 1
certificate will
include the
following
information
›
A list of the
certified
species
›
The certified
measurement
range
›
The type of
plant where site
testing took
place
›
The period
between
necessary
maintenance
(maintenance
interval)
›
Comparison of
test results and
the limits
specified in EN
15267-3
A prospective
user should
check that the
certification of
the instruments
that are
proposed meets
as closely as
possible his
specific
requirements.
