QAL 2 specifies
testing
procedures to
verify that each
CEM installation
will meet the
accuracy
requirements
laid down by EN
14181. The
performance of
the complete
installation is
monitored and
compared against
a series of
measurements
made with
approved
Standard
Reference
Methods.
QAL2 procedures
must be carried
out :
›
After
installation and
commissioning of
the CEM
›
If there is
subsequently a
significant
change in plant
operation which
changes the
emission levels.
›
If there has
been a failure
of the CEM
equipment
›
If there has
been an upgrade
or other
significant
change to the
CEM that affects
its calibration.
›
After corrective
action following
a failure of the
CEM in either
the QAL 3 or AST
procedures.
QAL 2 requires
operators to
ensure that the
CEM is:
›
Installed
in the correct
location for a
representative
measurement of
emissions.
›
Installed where
there is
sufficient
safe access
to maintain,
assess and
control it.
›
Calibrated
and operating
correctly.
QAL 2 testing
comprises two
parts
›
A
set of
functional tests
and checks to
ensure that the
CEM has been
installed
correctly and is
performing
within the
required performance levels.
›
A
calibration and
validation
exercise
consisting of
parallel
measurements
using
statistical
operations and
tests.
QAL 2 testing
must be
conducted by an
approved
independent test
house or
laboratory
certified to EN
ISO/IEC 17025.
