What is the GCEM 50E used for?
The GCEM 50E is a QAL1-certified hot/wet extractive gas analyser designed for continuous emissions monitoring in demanding applications. It can continuously measure gases including CO, NO, NO₂, N₂O, SO₂, HCl, CH₄, CO₂, H₂O and O₂, making it suitable for applications such as waste-to-energy, combustion plants, thermal oxidisers, biomass boilers and gas turbines.
What does QAL1 certification mean?
QAL1 certification demonstrates that the analyser has been independently assessed against the relevant requirements for performance and suitability for continuous emissions monitoring. The GCEM 50E is TÜV QAL1 certified to EN 15267 and EN 14181.
Can the GCEM 50E handle high, low or saturated flue gases?
Yes. The GCEM 50E has been specifically designed for applications where flue gas temperatures or moisture conditions make conventional gas analysis difficult. Its hot/wet extractive configuration allows it to be used where the flue gas is abnormally hot, cold or saturated.
Does the GCEM 50E require a sample conditioning system?
No. The GCEM 50E is designed to operate without a conventional sample conditioning system, helping simplify the installation and reduce system complexity and associated maintenance.
How many gases can the GCEM 50E measure?
The GCEM 50E can measure up to 10 gases continuously, depending on the configuration. Available measurements include CO, NO, NO₂, N₂O, SO₂, HCl, CH₄, CO₂, H₂O and O₂.
How is the GCEM 50E installed?
The GCEM 50E is field-mountable and can be installed directly at the measurement point. The system also incorporates sample probe control, heated sample-line control and automated probe purge functionality, helping simplify installation and ongoing operation.
How much maintenance does the GCEM 50E require?
The system has been designed to simplify maintenance, with readily available plug-and-play consumables, a quick-release cooling fan and modular electronics. Continuous sample-flow monitoring and onboard diagnostics can also help identify potential issues before they affect measurement performance.
Can the GCEM 50E be integrated with my existing CEMS?
The GCEM 50E provides RS485 communications as standard, with configurable analogue and relay outputs available as options. It is also compatible with CODEL Cloud, allowing system data to be accessed remotely.
Is the GCEM 50E suitable for US emissions monitoring applications?
The GCEM 50E can be considered for US CEMS applications, but the required regulatory approvals and performance specifications depend on the specific application and applicable EPA regulation. US EPA requirements are typically defined by the relevant regulatory subpart and may specify particular performance specifications, reference methods and quality-assurance requirements.
